MPO – Minskoe Proizvodstvennoe Obyedinenie

Minsk Order of the Red Banner of Labour Production Association named after Lenin, Kletsk Mechanical Plant.
BSSR, Minsk Region, Kletsk, Pobedy Street 46
Kletsk Mechanical Plant was founded in 1969 as a branch of the Minsk Production Association named after V.I. Lenin. The plant belongs to the machine-building industry.
As of today, it is an operating enterprise that is part of the BELAVTOMAZ holding. Now Amcodor-Belvar.
The first models had opening front doors. There were several colors: light green, turquoise, burgundy, orange, and gray. The bases were attached to the body with rivets and painted with silver paint.
For the 1980 Olympics, souvenir cars were released in a plastic box with a transparent top lid. Regular models were sold in a paper box.

Later, a series with different wheels was released — chrome-plated ones with a cross-shaped disc relief. A little later, the ambulance and police versions of the VAZ-2101 model were released. These were already manufactured in Kletsk. They differed from the Minsk design by having solid front doors with quarter windows, continuous tinted glazing of the passenger compartment, and different wheels — chrome-plated ones with a cross-shaped disc relief.
The models had different markings on the base. The early models featured the MPO logo, the scale 1:60, and the price. The most expensive were the Olympic ones, priced at 3 rubles 25 kopecks. Regular models cost 2 rubles 50 kopecks. On later models the price was removed, and still later the logo was also removed.
